Palliative Care IS Public Health: Principles to Practice. September 17-20, 2017 - Ottawa, ON. This conference provides doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, public health, palliative care and other allied healthcare professionals; and carers/volunteers and community, with the opportunity to share their experience and expertise on an international platform. The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association is pleased to present the 2017 Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Conference, being held in Ottawa from September 20th to 23rd. This conference provides doctors, nurses, pharmacists, hospice palliative care and other allied healthcare professionals; and caregivers, volunteers, spiritual advisers, and social workers with the opportunity to share their experience and expertise on a national platform.  This event expects to attract 500-800 hospice palliative care professionals.

This 5 week online course is presented by Bobbi Symes and the University of Victoria and is intended to support those working with older adults in long-term, acute and home care. Registrants will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to apply an evidence-based approach to the prevention of falls and fall-related injuries. Learn how to design, implement and evaluate a fall prevention program, cost is $225 and requires a textbook. To register please click here.

The Alzheimer Society of Ontario is hosting a knowledge sxchange opportunity for local Alzheimer Societies, people living with dementia, as well as professionals offering falls prevention and recreational services to older adults.  The event will be held at the Crown Plaza Toronto Airport Hotel and there is no registration fee for this conference. This one day course on fall prevention is sponsored by Simcoe Muskoka Integrated Fall Strategy. Topics being discussed include sarcopenia & osteporosis, updates in footwear safety, intra LHIN collaboration and a new approach to fall prevention in older adults.
